Welcome All Modellers and Enthusiasts !
The Merseyside Model Railway Society is here for anyone who wants to take part in the fascinating hobby of railway modelling. If you want to have fun modelling railways, in whatever scale and to whatever standard you want and are able, then we welcome you. The Society, our clubrooms and members provide facilities and support whether you want to take part in a modelling project or just use our library and socialise.
Between them, our members have a wealth of experience in all major aspects of the hobby - baseboard construction, scenery, buildings, electrics, locomotive and rolling stock construction, - which they are happy to share. If you would like to take your hobby further, come and join us.
We meet on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 7pm at our premise in Birkenhead and, as well as holding our eight layoutgroups, there is a very well-stocked library for members’ and non-members' use and a tea-bar.
The Society is proud of its community involvement: regular exhibitions offer public insights into the hobby and a commission to create a model of Birkenhead Woodside gave us a showcase in the Wirral Museum in Hamilton Square for many years, although sadly the Museum has now closed. The Woodside layout is in storage and we are actively looking for a new home for it. We are open to invitations from community groups and have available smaller layouts that we can take out. We are also happy to bring a stand to any event (& our shop, if you should want it).
